What a year of blessings! One of the best things about 2012 was being able to say “yes” more often to children and organizations waiting for our food.
Feed My Starving Children distributes our meals through a group of approved partners working in country. Periodically throughout the year, FMSC employees do visit these partners to strengthen relationships, see the food being distributed, and to support future projects. A team of seven just returned this past Sunday from visiting our partners Love A Child who work in Haiti.
As you sit down to a Thanksgiving meal this year, take a moment to read the following.
Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. In 2010, a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the already struggling country, leaving 316,000 people dead, 300,000 injured, and 1,000,000 homeless. Love a Child, a Feed My Starving Children partner, responded with their project, Miracle Village. Check out the incredible story and pictures of Miracle Village here.
Each year, the Board of Directors reviews our meal price and sets a price that will cover expenses. I am pleased to announce that effective today, March 1, 2012, the meals of Feed My Starving Children will be priced at 22¢ each. This is a reduction from 24¢, in effect since last January. As our 93% efficiency ratio demonstrates (only 7% going to administration and fundraising), FMSC strives to be good stewards of the resources God has given us. This lower price will enable us to feed more of His kids with our donors’ generous contributions in the coming year.
